TCIT, together with Tan Cang – Cai Mep Terminal (TCCT) and Tan Cang - Cai Mep Thi Vai Terminal (TCTT), forms an interconnected port cluster within the Saigon Newport Corporation system in Ba Ria – Vung Tau with a total yard area of 120ha, nearly 1,600m of wharf, ready to flexibly meet customers' and shipping lines' changing berth requirements and the need to expand international service routes via Cai Mep.

Operational Achievements and Market Position

Commencing operations on January 15, 2011, to date TCIT has received over 2,000 mother vessels, achieving a throughput of nearly 4.5 million teus. Average productivity reaches over 120 moves/hour/vessel. Notably, 2016 is the first year after 6 years of port operation that TCIT officially surpassed the 1 million teu milestone, with throughput increasing fourfold compared to its first year of operation.

TCIT consistently maintains its position as the container port operator with the highest market share in the Cai Mep area, accounting for an average of about 65% of the entire region, and is the second largest container port in Vietnam after Tan Cang Cai Lai Port (District 2, Ho Chi Minh City). Currently, TCIT receives feeder vessels transshipping cargo from Hai Phong, Da Nang and Quy Nhon to connect directly to mother vessels bound for the US and Europe.

Logistical Connectivity and Regional Role

TCIT is located about 70 km from Ho Chi Minh City, convenient for road connections with industrial zones in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Duong, and Dong Nai. Simultaneously, TCIT also plays a role in connecting with ports in the Mekong Delta such as Cao Lanh Port, Sa Dec Port (Dong Thap), My Thoi (An Giang), Cai Cui (Can Tho) - creating a comprehensive logistics network, helping customers optimize the process of transporting agricultural export goods. Along with that, TCIT is currently a developing location, attracting transit cargo between Vietnam and Cambodia, contributing to the growth of transshipment cargo for TCIT in particular and for Vietnam in general.
