I am about to purchase a new wing but I am really indecisive on which wing to buy. I want to get into XC but only get to fly during the summer season (and I fly a lot during the summer). The wings I’m considering are between the Rush the Buzz? Is there a huge compromise in safety between these two wings? And what are some of the differences between the Buzz and the new Buzz Z?
RE: wing info ?
I think this depends a lot on your ability to judge conditions after a long lay-off to ensure you ease back into flying safely each year. I've had long periods without flying and am not afraid to sit on a hill and watch until conditions calm and/or traffic clears. This seems to have kept me safe so far on a Rush (touches wood). Having said that, I have gained most of my flying hours in thermic conditions and on SIV courses, which probably helps. If you're a fresh CP (please add some details to your profile) then I'd probably advise against jumping straight onto the Rush - talk to your instructor. Reading between the lines about the new BuzzZ it seems that Ozone have let the wing creep further towards the middle of the DHV1-2 rating. It remains to be seen what effect the changes have on its character, but the original was lovely to fly. The extra sizes available will make it easier for some to select the right size for their weight. cheers, roy.
RE: wing info ?
I would have a look at a sky atis2, safer than a Buzz and more performance than a Rush
RE: wing info ?
interesting - how do you arrive at those claims?
